Old School BMX Jam Photo Session

This photo says it all for me, the old school BMX jam at the Mission Valley YMCA skate park was a great experience for me as a photographer.  Some of the lighting conditions were sub-optimal, and I should of had my flash rolling, but it was hard to keep up with the action!  Everyone was flying all over the place.  I set the mode of my Canon EOS 40D to Sports mode, the little running guy, and started snapping photos at 6.5 shots per second.  It was amazing.  The shutter speed was 1/640, and the Aperature was f/9.0, ISO 400.

The pool was super deep at the point where they are airing.  It takes a lot of guts to rock that air right there.

Lee on the Steeps

This is one of my favorite photographs that I have ever shot.  I stepped back away from the action, between two wooden ramps, and went to one knee.  I tried to line up the angles, I could fix it in photoshop, but I decided to just let it roll.  I just love the extension, and the capture of motion.  He looks so relaxed doing this right now in the photograph.

This was also shot at ISO 400, 1/800, f/11.0, 28mm focal length, again on my Canon EOS 40D, in Sports Mode.

Lee Reynolds

Another from the series, where the angles are a bit better.  I love that he is trying to get the bike higher and higher.
